Trump admin plans to cut 80,000 workers from Veterans Affairs, according to internal memo

The sinister moves of the Trump-Vance Administration are troubling for more than the LGBTQ community, but as sinister for us as any other targeted group of people. From attempted “Transgender Military Bans” to attacking the rights, benefits, and honors of LGBTQ service members who fought for our nation, Republicans are attacking us all. However, veterans of all varieties have suffered under the Trump Administration and Elon Musk cuts to the Veterans Affairs department. From shutting down VA suicide hotlines across the nation while over a dozen service members a day end their own lives, to laying off thousands of veterans who work for the VA and other government agencies. To mandating an end to DEI practices across the government and private sectors, veterans and service member again lose the protection that DEI provided in helping our nation’s military more easily reintegrate into civilian society. With a lack of adequate healthcare and the current attacks on our communities, it’s clear that the Trump-Vance-Musk Administration is determined to make life harder until we all unite against them.

Republicans across the country are as furious as Democrats, but not enough people have woken up enough to understand the destruction the Trump era has brought to democracy in the United States. The Trump Administration is a tyrannical administration bent on destroying our government and its functions through defunding and mass firings. The proof is in every order they give and every attack they make against us and our global allies. The secret strategy they use though, is to promote the idea of saving money, but to only turn around grant tax cuts for billionaires and redirect funding to private monopolized industry, where the tax dollars are used for private industry waste, fraud, and abuse at the determination of their billionaire corporate heads who paid off the administration and Republicans for the redirected funding.

The Trump administration has detained and deported AMERICANS and residents who are working through the legal process of our immigration system. They have transported people with US tax dollars to countries and top secret military prisons offshore against Judges’ orders to cease their unconstitutional operations. And have had to comply with returning the people they transported to Guantanamo Bay with more use of US tax dollars. Only one thing is clear: There is no stopping the lawlessness of the Trump Administration, because their modus operandi is the antithesis to American democratic values and only in allegiance with dictatorial ambitions. 

The implications for us all are more grave than losing our ‘retirements’ or poor quality health coverage. The implications are greater than having to pay student loans or gaining free public education for all. We’ve lost the chance at an America that fulfills the promise of the American Dream by means of electoral engagement. It’s necessary for us to reconsider our roles in how we approach politics and power. We are our government more so than any Billionaire ever will be. The many of us, when we stand together, behind one another and for one another, we are stronger than the almighty dollar, when the almighty dollar is only the carrot on the stick of the hamster wheel of capitalism they hope we’ll keep chasing. While the billionaires tell us that the pain in our legs is good for us, that our families ought to appreciate our sacrifices, as the powerful take from us the futures of our loved ones and our lives. 

We are not the cattle these Billionaires want us to be. We are not the silent fowl that they thought we would be during their moments of ascension. Every era has a moment where masters climb to the tops of societies and liquidate the society for self enrichment, and this moment is ours.

This time, we must be a collective and move into politics together. We can’t leave civil servitude to the wealthy and well connected. We must demand seats at the table, and when the discussions aren’t going anywhere, we need to know when to set up our own tables. The time for playing nice and playing alone are over. 

We are fighting for our democracy, and that’s because we’ve already lost it. This world is full of false notions that people with more than you are better than you, but I see only the sacrifice of their humanity in the eyes of those with the power to change everything but only the desire to take anything the poor have, down to their homes, last crumbs, and dignity. They make us believe if we sacrifice everything we have, maybe we will have a shot at something better, because better is always the expectation. But the reality of progress has fallen short in recent generations, while the powerful deregulate the environment, the economy, and the protections established to protect us from billionaire abuse. 

Get engaged. Shop Small Business. Find LGBTQ BIPOC community groups. Offer your support, allyship, voice, and wallet to supporting and uplifting an economy and society that is grass roots. That limits its connection to feeding the Billionaire machine. Stand in solidarity with the most oppressed groups, because if billionaires see us all as cattle, the idea of social strata in your mind means nothing outside of your false perception of safety and security. For in reality, every right and power they strip from the “other,” is also stripped for you. Only the powerful and wealthy are above that oligarchical law.
