About Us

Most publishing websites exist to sell you a list of titles and disappear.

Four Elements Press is built differently. We aren’t just a publishing house. We are a gay, BIPOC, author-owned indie press based in New Jersey operating as an active, self-sustaining literary ecosystem and social community. We are dedicated to craft-driven speculative fiction, authentic own-voices storytelling, and the preservation of independent BIPOC and LGBTQ+ literature. We uplift silenced voices.

When you land here, you aren’t just looking at a catalog. You’re stepping into a working press that creates, connects, educates, and hosts.

What We Do (And How You Can Use This Site)
  • Independent Book Publishing: We curate and publish high-concept, craft-focused fiction. From mythic urban fantasy with aura magic (The Immortal Philosophers) to Xicana neurodivergent YA thrillers (The Selena Sol-Valencia Series).
  • The LGBTQ+ & BIPOC Author Focus: We host and produce in-depth video interviews with established and emerging writers, screenwriters, and poets, providing real conversations on craft, publishing, and representation without corporate fluff.
  • Literary Services & Self-Publishing Guidance: We support writers directly through open submissions, manuscript editing, formatting, cover design, self-publishing resources, and structured craft workshops.
  • Community Social Space & Feeds: Our platform houses a dedicated member space, active community feeds, author directories, and curated reading lists (including our 100 Banned Books List and LGBTQ Author Interview Book List) to keep readers and creators connected.
  • Four Elements Press Tea: We integrate traditional tea culture into the writing life, offering curated tea tastings designed to slow down and enrich the creative process.

Our Vision & Why Your Support Matters

Big-box publishing and corporate algorithms continually flatten BIPOC, Latine, queer, and neurodivergent narratives into sanitized trends. We exist to build a permanent, independent home where complex, authentic lived experiences lead the narrative.

We are actively funding initiatives that put money directly into the hands of marginalized creators, including our Semi-Annual Short Fiction Collection Anthology, which pairs emerging writers with professional editing, publishing exposure, and direct support.
