This week we had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with medium Rob Gutro, a multi published gay author and retired meteorologist by profession. His true paranormal books have pioneered genres focusing on paranormal pet readings and queer paranormal investigations. Gutro has also had the unique experience of communicating with a passed partner of his now husband.

Given the nature of Gutro’s work, his novels start as reports of his lived experiences on pet readings with grieving pet parents and investigations of haunted locations. Gutro helps with crossing over ghosts, which he discusses more in our interview. From the report stage, Gutro researches more about the backgrounds of the ghosts and spirits he picks up on. This is an important part of the storytelling process for him, because his novels are comprehensive stories as opposed to report compilations.
From the research stage, Gutro then starts to thread the story of his experience with the richness of what he cross references, to craft novels that are end points for all parties involved. For himself as a writer, for the clients he’s working with, and for the ghosts and spirits he meets, in order to create a sense of closure for all.
We also talk about the way Gutro markets his books and helps other market and produce their books. We discuss his editing process, and a little bit about what it’s like working professionally as an openly gay man.
